Comprehensive Eye Examination

Eye exams are not all the same.  Since eyes change throughout our lives and are affected by our health, our exam adjusts accordingly. Children are susceptable to a different set of  eye problems than their grandparents; thus our exams are comprehensive and specific for the individual. We offer children's exams, senior's exams, computer vision  exams, diabetic exams and so much more.

And we use state of the art equipment in our offices; such as, retinal photography, optical coherent tomography that provides digital imaging, visual field testing, pachymetry, topography, auto refraction and keratometry, non-contact tonometry, and more.

A comprehensive eye exam will evaluate not only how well you see, but also identify potential eye diseases. Some eye diseases, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, can result in serious vision loss if not detected and treated early. Often patients with these diseases do not experience any visual symptoms before vision loss occurs. Infants and young children are especially vulnerable, because they often can not tell you of any symptoms.

How often should I have an Exam?

Children and adolescents should be checked annually starting at as early an age as possible, especially if unusual signs are observed. It is important to uncover amblyopia (lazy eye) before age 5+ to have any reasonable chance of improvement. Other uncommon but serious conditions such as congenital glaucoma, cataract and tumors must be treated very early.
If you are over 21, you should have a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years. Patients over 65 or with a family history of glaucoma, diabetes or diabetic retinopathy should have a yearly eye exam.
